The Agropole of coffee production, processing and marketing was launched in Bamenda in the North-West region on 25 November 2016.
The goal of this agropole has now been made public. It is assigned to move the current processing level from 10 to 703 tons of coffee annually. The locals shall also take advantage of it. 102 permanent jobs are expected. 235 seasonal workers shall show up. The project is estimated to cost CFA Francs 3,393,062,435. The contribution of the State via the Agropole Programme amounts to 1,232,220,720. Government’ support shall construct and equip 7 washing stations.
A modern coffee processing unit shall also be established. Both Arabica and Robusta shall be processed. Means of transport for various products shall be acquired. The need for connection to the electric power grid is being addressed. Access roads to washing stations call for rehabilitation. This funding shall sort it out. For sure, project holders need further training. Both refresher and crash courses are part of their basic requirements.
